Lark Distillery offers a range of fully escorted tours including a One day and Two day tour and the Ultimate Whisky Experience four day tour. Lark Distillery uses the world famous Franklin Barley to produce a single malt whisky gloriously rich in malt with a hue of peat smoke. Join the master distiller through each fascinating stage of sculpting a Single Malt Whisky.

Enter a world of peat smoke and passion. Our exciting tours are tailored to allow for varying time availability to suit your travel plans. Visit our web site or call us to make booking enquiries or to request a brochure. Tours are available weekdays only.  A minimum of four people is required for group tours, private tours for individuals and couples attract a surcharge or $200.

One Day Whisky Tour:

Meet at Lark’s Davey Street Cellar Door and Whisky Bar at 7.30am (hotel pickups   available by arrangement) then spend the morning at our Mount Pleasant distillery   followed by a visit to your choice of historic Richmond or Tasmania Distillery.  Lunch is at Meadowbank Wines visitor centre, and includes tastings and tour of the Tom Samek floor installation. The afternoon begins at Mt Pleasant distillery to see stills in full operation, then we return to Davey Street for guided tastings, concluding at 4.30pm. Tour includes lunch, morning and afternoon teas, tastings and transport.

Two Day Whisky Tour:

Day one begins at Lark’s Davey Street Cellar Door and Whisky Bar at 8.30am with a welcome and introduction to Lark Distillery. The rest of the day is spent visiting the peat bog in the central highlands. A gourmet lunch of peat smoked trout is prepared at our peat bog and guests enjoy Tasmanian wines, Lark Bush Liqueur and our famous Single Malt Whisky. Day one ends back at our whisky bar for a well earned drink.

Day two takes us to Lark's Mount Pleasant Distillery to follow the distiller through a full day of whisky production.  The day begins at 7.45am to witness the "mashing in" of the day's whisky brew, then we spend time wih the distiller discussing the the art, science and passion of small scale whisky production.  We can get 'hands on' with the processand to sample the mash, wort, and spirit at every stage. Guests can get aquainted with our copper pot still and its operation, and see a barrel filling and production of other Lark Distillery products.  A gourmet lunch and wine tastings at Meadowbank Wines Visitor Centre provides refreshment during the day.  Day two concludes with a trip back to Larks Cellar Door and Whisky Bar with a comprehensive tasting and an opportunity to purchase Larks products.

Tour includes all lunches, morning and afternoon teas and tastings and transport.

Four Day Whisky Experience:

This ultimate single malt whisky tour takes guests through the entire whisky making processfrom peat digging to barrel filling and every step in between.  Guests have a hands on experience with every step in the creation of this magical spirit, spending a full day with the distiller andsharing the decision-making involved in the distiller's art.  Every day features delightful lunches at wineries and your tour guide provides insights into Tasmania's gastronomical history, with an emphasis on whisky, wine, food, art and history.

This tour also includes a WHISKIES OF THE WORLD DINNER where guests enjoy a degustation-style dinner with an international selection of rare and revered malt whiskies.

An added feature of this tour is the option to fill a 20L cask of your choice with the malt spirit you have helped to produce.  This type of  "hands on" or "full immersion" tour is unique to Lark Distillery and represents a most attractive opportunity for any devoted single malt whisky fan.  The tour cost includes all transport, lunches, morning and afternoon teas plus the whisky dinner and accomodation at Tarraleah Lodge.  Other activities such as golf or fly-fishing, and the optional 20L cask can be negotiated at the time of booking.

* This tour can be customised to suit the specific needs of patrons.  Our tour manager will work closely with guests to provide the most memorable experience possible.  The overnight stay at Tarraleah may be deleted and a new price negotiated if patrons may wish to be based in Hobart for the tour.
