The apple spirit for Larks apple liqueur is produced from a carefully prepared apple cider brewed from Sturmer Pippin cider apples grown in the heart of Tasmania’s cool climate orchard country.

The distillery takes delivery of the cider and distill the spirit in the spirit cut when the average strength is approx 40%a/v.  It retains the delightful fresh crisp flavour of the Huon cider apples. Apple flavour is hard to retain during the distillation process as they are not very “oily”, but by choosing the Sturmer apple they have managed to retain the essential apple flavour without the need to add any artificial flavours or essences. The secret is the use of copper pot stills to produce a much softer spirit. Lark Distillery's apple liqueur is an all natural product.

Nose:

Springtime flowers and fresh fruit.

Taste:

A hit of crisp apple, followed by a lingering sweetness.

Finish:

Mum’s apple pie.

Some suggestions for apple liqueur are:

  • Add to your hot chocolate for a delightful difference
  • Apple Blossom: add a dash of bitters and top up with a good apple cider
  • In a sweet martini, to beautifully compliment a fruity gin
  • An unusual addition to a Kahlua and milk
  • On a hot summers evening over ice with a squeeze of lemon or lime
