Lark Pure Malt was born out of customer demand to understand what a malt whisky spirit is like as it comes from the still and before it is placed in barrels to mature into our flagship Single Malt Whisky. Many customers were delighted to taste this malt experience whilst on tour and we found ourselves having to prepare bottles for customers once they had sampled this rare experience, so much that we thought it appropriate to introduce it into our regular product line up.

The Pure Malt is essentially the fresh malt spirit, carefully selected from the heart of the spirit run at approximately 67% alc/vol and it is simply broken down with pure Tasmanian water to a desirable bottle strength of 45% alc/vol.

As a clean malt spirit, the wonderful peaty notes shine through as the dominant character. These strong peaty overtones are usually balanced with oak from maturation in the Single Malt Whisky, but in the case of the Pure Malt, are left to combine beautifully with the Tasmanian malt to produce a wonderful smoky barley spirit which can be enjoyed as you might enjoy a clean fresh schnapps – in this case it might be considered a “barley schnapps”.
