Our Location
Tasmania is an island of beautiful and dramatic contrasts. Visitors often remark on how alike Tasmania and Scotland are. The vast mountain ranges, with clear rivers cascading to the sea, the pristine wilderness and beaches and the small, old world villages with sandstone buildings and colonial architecture. These Scottish characteristics are no coincidence. Scottish migrants were instrumental in establishing the fledgling colony in Van Diemen's Land, and the character of these pioneers remains. The Lark Distillery whisky captures the spirit of the island, and makes the most of its natural resources. Whilst there are similarities with Scotland, the many differences ensure the unique characters of Lark's whisky stand out against traditional malt whiskies. Importantly, geography has given the island of Tasmania a natural advantage, being surrounded by the Southern Ocean, its air and water are the purest in the world. Hobart is the capital and nestled at the base of the towering Mt. Wellington, and on the shore of the Derwent river harbour. It is renowned as one of the most attractive cities in the world and in its early days was home to up to 17 distilleries. Located on the Hobart waterfront, the Lark Distillery cellar door and whisky bar is as Bill says "a truly inspiring place - it makes turning on the still at 6am a pleasure." The outlook to Mawson Place gives you the chance to sit outside, and enjoy your favourite dram overlooking Hobart's vibrant port. 14 Davey Street, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. |
